Lions fans - especially the ones who are disappointed by their team but just can’t quit them - are right, for once, to be full of hope, and you know what? After 30-odd years since a playoff win we hope they’re enjoying it - even if ticket prices will likely increase for the 2024 season. The Lions are 10-4, top of their division, and almost certainly headed to the playoffs. □ The Lions are… good? Even the most football-avoidant Detroiters (ahem, us) know it. The city’s year was full of other surprises, from the exciting (how about those Lions?) to the consequential (a plan to lower homeowner taxes has real legs) and the concerning (the Canadian wildfire smoke dangers have stuck with us).įrom new landmarks to hometown TikTok stars and everything in between, here are the highs, lows and stories worth remembering from Detroit’s 2023. Here’s something we never thought we’d write: 2023 might be the year Detroit-style pizza peaked.
